R15 000 for MBTM
Being at the Springboks 57-0 loss at Albany Stadium in New Zealand in September is not a happy memory! However, what a turnaround… and while the Springboks lost by a point to the All Blacks in Cape Town in October, the previous games against Australia proved the Bokke are up there with the ‘Big Boys’. Once again, it looks like the pride in wearing the Springbok shirt is back – whether a supporter or a player. I am looking forward to the upcoming Bok European Tour in November and while not the finished article, there is something to work with going forward. Steve Braham Prediction: Springboks to win World Cup 2019...
A thoroughly enjoyable golf day was hosted by SWB at Parkview Golf Club in Johannesburg recently where the proceeds went to More Balls Than Most (MBTM), part of the PINK DRIVE Family. This is an annual event hosted by us in aid of Prostate Cancer Awareness through Sport - a subject that is close to Steve Braham’s heart as he is a Prostate Cancer Survivor himself. Steve is proud of his 4-Ball - the “Prostate Four” as they are all past sportsman who have suffered Prostate Cancer but through sport and regular check-ups, have survived! Twenty 4- balls enjoyed a sunny afternoon where a total of R15 000 was raised for the MBTM. Next year we have our goals set at getting twenty five 4-Balls together where we hope to raise R20 000.
The first six months of 2018 will be a very busy time in South Africa on the sporting front - particularly for Cricket with India coming over to play 3 Tests, 5 ODI’s and 2 T20. This will be closely followed by Australia for a 4 Test match series. And that’s not all – England Rugby will grace our shores for a 3 Test series in June while, from February to September we will be watching Super Rugby!
SWB Sports & Events will be involved with all these Cricket and Rugby events in South Africa offering hospitality and various sporting-related events with the likes of Merve Hughes, the ex-Australian fast bowler, and Jason Leonard who made 111 caps for England Rugby, to name just two Sporting Legends who will be involved with our events.
Things are “hotting up” so watch this space for details!
